Woody Harrelson has just revealed a new piece of evidence that supports his theory that Matthew McConaughey and he are brothers.

Harrelson says in a new Esquire interview that McConaughey’s father told McConaughey’s mother, “That ain’t my son” and refused to accompany her to the hospital when McConaughey was born.

Harrelson revealed the information in an interview this past week. He said that he had “known that detail” for years before Mary Kathleen McCabe suggested that she might have had a relationship with Harrelson’s father.

McConaughey said to Kelly Ripa last month on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera”, that his mother told Harrelson on a recent trip to Greece, she “knew’ his dad.

“Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W,” McConaughey explained. “We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.”

Harrelson said he wanted to do a DNA test in order to determine if they were half-brothers. McConaughey, however, was reluctant to learn that the man McConaughey always thought to be his father may not actually be his biological father.

Harrelson said to Stephen Colbert in a recent interview, “We’re going to do a test, but it’s much bigger for him.” He feels like he’s losing his father.” But I said, “No, you are gaining a new father and brother.”

Harrelson and McConaughey didn’t test each other to see if they were brothers. But, Harrelson said, “I can say there are a lot of coincidences that seem almost crazy.” His mother had a relationship right around the time that he was born. It seems like an incredible coincidence.”

They have had a “bromance” ever since they met in 1997 while filming “EDtv.” Now, the two actors will star in a comedy series on Apple TV+ about their friendship titled “Brother From Another Mother.”

In the show, McConaughey and Harrelson play versions of themselves as Harrelson’s family moves in with McConaughey’s. The “Interstellar” actor said it’s “based on truth.”

McConaughey’s dad, who died in 1992, married his mom three times during their relationship. Harrelson’s father Charles Harrelson died in prison in 2007. He was serving a life sentence for murder.
