President Biden praised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for being “gracious” as he spoke with him about mitigating multiple hurricanes hitting Florida.

In recent days, there has been a feud between DeSantis and the team of Vice President Kamala. NBC News reported on Monday that DeSantis had been denying calls from Harris’ team. However, it appears the governor and president are now on much better terms.

Philip Wegmann, a reporter for Real Clear Politics, asked the President: “Mr. DeSantis, is it necessary that Governor DeSantis take Vice President Harris’s calls?”

Biden replied, “I can only tell you that I have spoken to Governor DeSantis. He was very gracious. He thanked me. He knows what we are doing and I believe that is important.”

Biden called DeSantis multiple times since Hurricane Helene hit the Southeast two weeks ago. Then, Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday night. He told DeSantis, as well as Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, to “call” him if they needed any additional support.

DeSantis noted, however, that his requests for additional federal support had been met.

Harris accused DeSantis “of playing political games” during the hurricanes.

Harris said Monday that playing political games in crises is irresponsible and selfish.

Biden had, in contrast, referred to the Florida Governor as “cooperative.”
