The airline that played the sexually explicit movie on each passenger’s screen was unable to stop it.
Last week, an incident occurred on a Qantas Flight from Sydney to Japan’s Haneda Airport. Qantas confirmed the incident.
Qantas didn’t disclose the film, but News.au reported it to be “Daddio,” which stars Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn.
According to IMDB, the film has been rated R due to “language, brief sexual material, and brief graphic nudity.”
Reddit was flooded with a confused passenger who claimed that it “wasn’t possible to dim or turn off the film.”
The Reddit user said in a post to r/QantasAirways that the video featured “graphic nudity” and a lot of sexting. You could read the text on the screen without headphones.
It took nearly an hour before they changed to a kid-friendly film, but everyone was uncomfortable, especially the families and children on board.
A technical problem prevented Qantas from offering a choice of movies. Once crew members realized that they couldn’t fix the technical problem, they switched to a film aimed at families.
The representative apologized to the customers. “It was clear that the movie wasn’t suitable for play on the entire flight. We sincerely regret this experience,” he said. The representative said that “all screens were changed over to a family-friendly movie for the remainder of the flight.” This is standard practice in rare cases when individual movie selections are not possible.
The spokesperson said, “We will be reviewing the selection of the film.”
