AOC Launches Impeachment Articles Against Supreme Court Justices, Sparking Controversy

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (AOC), appears again just as you were beginning to believe that sanity had returned to the nation’s capitol. This time, she announces her intention to file articles against the Supreme Court. It’s not clear which members of the Supreme Court she intends to impeach. We can assume, however, that the liberal members will be spared, but who knows with AOC?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic Representative from New York State, announced on Monday that she would soon file articles of impeachment against at least one Supreme Court justice in response to their decision to grant partial immunities to the former President Trump who faces felony charges over his attempts to overturn 2020 election results.

Ocasio-Cortez is a prominent liberal member of the House Oversight Committee. She said that the ruling contradicts a fundamental premise in the American Constitution, which states that no one should be above the law. This puts the country at risk of tyranny.

The ruling today is an attack on American democracy. She wrote, “It is up to Congress to defend our nation against this authoritarian captivity,” on the social media platform X. “I plan to file articles of impeachment when we return.”

Who is it? All the Supreme Court Justices? Just those who voted with the majority? Does she know? Does it matter if she knew?

First, I’d tell the Congresswoman: “Alexandria please, America has never been and will never be a democracy. Find someone who can help you understand the term ‘constitutional Republic’ before you continue to make public statements.” This is a mistake that many people make, and not only Democrats.

It’s difficult to understand what she wants to achieve. By design, the Supreme Court is the final authority in these cases. They judge laws against Constitutional provisions and have the final word, except the constitutional amendment procedure. The Constitution defines the procedure for the nomination and confirmation of each justice. They have made a legal ruling.

She is not the only Democrat upset.

Hakeem Jeffreys (D-NY), House Minority leader, said that the Framers of the Constitution envisaged a democracy governed under the rule of law with the consent of American citizens. They did not want our nation ruled by a monarch or king who could act without any consequences.

Oh, please. This is just absurd. The decision only grants immunity to official duties. I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV.

The Court ruled, with a majority of 6-3, that a former President has absolute immunity about his constitutional core powers. Former presidents also have a right to a presumption of immunity for official acts. There is no immunity, however, for acts that are not official.

The Court ruled that the President is entitled to immunity from prosecution for acts authorized by the Constitution. The Constitution does not contain a provision that allows a president to claim monarchical power. Unlike the Roman Republic of old, he cannot be declared dictator by the Senate, nor can legal powers be taken from him. According to the Constitution, a president is not allowed to imprison or kill his political rivals. This is not the meaning of this decision.

It would be wonderful if these people read the Constitution just once before making such hysterical remarks.

AOC’s irrational filing is bound to fail. If she bothers to file, it will be promptly and properly rounded-filed as soon as she does. It’s the way it should be. And that’s a good thing. There’s enough sanity to know when there’s a horse-squeeze in our House of Representatives.
