In a warning against Russia’s war on Ukraine, President Joe Biden warned of nuclear “Armageddon” during Thursday’s speech to Democrats.

Biden stated that “We have not faced the possibility of Armageddon ever since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis,” during a New York City fundraiser.

According to live-tweeting, he also stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is not joking” when he speaks about the potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological and chemical weapons as his military is “underperforming”.

Putin’s declaration last month that he would defend “the territorial integrity of our motherland” with “all the means available” raised concerns in the West. These remarks were widely seen as a threat to nuclear weapons.

Russia has been in a series of difficulties on the battlefield in Ukraine. In February, Russia invaded Ukraine with a large-scale invasion. Recent Russian forces have pulled out of the Donetsk-area eastern city of Lyman. This was after Putin signed an agreement to annex four regions of Ukraine, including the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic.

Western officials, including Secretary-of-State Antony Blinken, and NATO officials have warned about the consequences of Russia’s deployment of nukes.

The Dutch Adm. said that “the Russians will regret what their actions were.” Rob Bauer, the chairman of NATO’s military commission, spoke Wednesday at Warsaw Security Forum. “And that I believe is extremely important.”
