Biden’s Slip-Up in Richardson Condolence Statement Sparks Confusion

Joe Biden’s team has done a number of things incorrectly during his tenure in office.

Many of these things have hurt us gravely — from the 13 young Americans who died during the withdrawal from Afghanistan to the economic mistakes that affect all Americans, such as crippling Bidenflation or high-interest rates.

Democrats always praise Biden for being “empathetic”. My colleague wrote an excellent piece earlier on how CNN attempted to push a piece on the “decency’ of Joe Biden.

Some of his worst actions have come when he has had to deal with tragedy and people — perhaps, you wanted to be extra sure what you were saying was correct.

Joe Biden tried to speak to dead people in the White House before when he looked for Rep. Jackie Walorski. Joe Biden did this despite having sent a condolence message a month earlier.

Biden, who was a frequent watch-checker, spoke to the parents of the Americans killed in the bombings at the Kabul Airport, explaining that he felt more than they did. He was forced to issue a late-day statement on the anniversary of August’s bombing, where he did not even mention the names of the victims. In a recent ABC Interview, the families let Biden know what they thought.

He handled the Maui fire disaster with “no comment,” and a smirk when asked about the death count. He then made it all about him, telling survivors that the kitchen fire in his home in 2004 was extinguished in just 20 minutes. He claimed that he nearly lost his wife, Corvette ’67, and cat.

Biden’s incoherence and tendency to make things up are a large part of the problem. Another part of this is the general incompetence of his team. This was again demonstrated in a simple statement of condolences following the death of former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

This is the relevant part of the statement Biden made.

Bill and I first met decades ago when he worked as a staffer for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I was then a Senator. I was able to witness his love of politics and America and the unwavering belief that people could come together despite their differences, with respect and goodwill. He will never be forgotten. Jill and I send our love to the family of his wife, Barbara, who has been with him for over 50 years, and their daughter Heather.

What is the problem? You might want to check the family tree before you send someone your “love” to make sure you are sending them the right person. Heather is not their daughter. There is no Heather.

As with many other things, Biden blew it on this one.

Weijia Chan of CBS asked White House Press Sec Karine Jean Pierre how this happened.

“I have another question regarding fact-checking at the White House.” In his initial statement, the President expressed condolences to Barbara Richardson, the Governor’s wife of fifty years, and Heather, their daughter. This line about Heather the daughter has been removed, because they don’t have either a daughter or a granddaughter named Heather. Can you explain how press releases are fact-checked, who signs them off at the end, and in this particular case how this mistake was made?

Jean-Pierre apologized and then seemed to laugh or at least try to not laugh. She didn’t answer the question. She claimed that they had “fact-checkers”, but she never explained the process, how it could have happened, or how to prevent this in the future. She said, “This was a mistake.” This is one way to downplay it.

Jiang asked again: “Has it been determined and corrected to avoid this from happening again?”

Jean-Pierre again avoided answering this question, saying they would try to not do it again. However, he did not reveal how the incident occurred or whether any corrective actions had been taken.

They show how inept they are every day when even the simplest things they get wrong. Joe Biden is the beginning of it all.
