The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is expanding the recall of Boar’s Head deli products which could contain listeria.

Nearly 7 million additional pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry are now included in the recall.

The FSIS has announced a recall of 71 products manufactured by Boar’s Head and Old Country between the dates of May 10, 2020, and July 29, 2020.

Boar’s Head stated on their website “On Monday, 27th July 2024, we received USDA notification that our Strassburger Brand Liverwurst is linked to the nationwide Listeria Monocytogenes outbreak.”

The company stated that “based upon this new information, we have taken measures to ensure that we do everything we can to protect public health.”

The FSIS states that “consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis.” This serious disease affects pregnant women, those over 65, and people with weak immune systems. ”

Boar’s Head encourages consumers to return potentially-contaminated goods to receive a “full refund”.

The FSIS also recommends that retailers “clean and disinfect any food and non-food surfaces and dispose of opened meats or cheeses in the deli.”

The recall includes all products produced at Boar’s head Jarratt in Virginia.
