Hillary Clinton Warns About Safety for Black and Gay Individuals in Florida

Hillary Clinton, the former failed presidential candidate, has supported the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s claim that Florida is unsafe for LGBTQ and black people. The group released a “travel guide” for those groups that plan to visit Florida.

Clinton tweeted that Ron DeSantis’s ultra-MAGA Florida is not safe for people who are of color, LGBTQ+, or large corporations. She included pictures of articles detailing DeSantis’s feuds with Disney and travel advisories.

Clinton made her comments after the NAACP issued an official “travel warning” in response to Ron DeSantis’s aggressive efforts to erase Black History and to restrict diversity equity programs and inclusion within Florida schools. After he passed legislation that banned the teaching of critical racial theories in public schools.

In the release, it is stated that “Florida shows open hostility towards African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals.” Please be aware, before traveling to Florida, that Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of African Americans and people of color.

Derrick Johnson is the President and CEO of the NAACP. He said the warning was part of a bigger battle for the “soul” of America.

Let me be clear: failing accurately to represent the horrors, injustices, and discrimination that Black Americans have suffered and continue to suffer is a dereliction of duty and a disservice to all.

Florida has become hostile to Black Americans under Governor Desantis. It is a direct contradiction to the democratic ideals that were the foundation of our union.

Leon Russell is the chair of the NAACP Board of Directors. He has also criticized the “hate-inspired DeSantis”, who was reelected with a 20-point majority in November.

Leaders of hate-inspiring states have again put politics ahead of people. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is waging a war against diversity and inclusion and rejecting our shared identity in order to appeal to a minority extremist.

We won’t let political egotism use our history or rights to further their own agenda. NAACP is proud of its fight against the vicious attacks on Black Americans in Florida. My fellow Floridians, I encourage you to join me in this fight for our democracy and ourselves.

It’s not just the NAACP that warns its members to stay away from Florida.

The League of United Latin American Citizens issued an alert to illegal immigrants, their families, and friends about the dangers of settling in the state.

Domingo Garcia said that if you bring an undocumented friend or relative to Florida, you will be charged with a criminal offense. “Florida is a hostile and dangerous place for law-abiding Americans and immigrants. “
