Hollywood director Rob Reiner “would give anything” to see Taylor Swift publicly endorse President Biden’s reelection.
“I am currently filming a sequel to ‘This is Spinal Tap’.” Reiner wrote that he would do anything to have Taylor Swift endorse Joe Biden, even if she did a cameo. “She could save American democracy almost single-handedly.”
Reiner has spoken out on social and political issues in the past few years. His latest documentary, “God and Country”, examined the “implications” of Christian Nationalism and how it can distort both the Constitutional Republic of the U.S. and Christianity.
The director of “Spinal Tap”, a longtime Democratic Party member, has previously praised Biden for being a “decent, law-abiding individual” and called Donald Trump, the former president, a criminal who “pathologically lies.”
Swift hasn’t made an official endorsement but Biden will be her choice if she does. Swift has been critical of Trump and supported Biden’s 2020 campaign.
The New York Times published a report in January that revealed Biden’s advisers were hoping to get an endorsement from the icon. They even suggested sending him on a stop of her “Eras Tour.” The report did note that it was partially in jest.
The Times reported on how one of Swift’s Instagram posts from the year 2022 resulted in 35,000 new voter registrations. “Fundraising appeals by Ms. Swift could be worth millions for Mr. Biden,” read the report, as the President seeks to “pump” energy into his reelection campaign.
Swift, who urged voters to vote on Super Tuesday earlier this month but didn’t endorse any candidate or party, urged them to go to the polls.
Today, March 5, is the Presidential Primary Day in Tennessee and other 16 states and territories. In an Instagram post, she reminded her followers to vote for the candidates who best represent them. Make a plan today to vote if you haven’t done so already.
She added, “Vote.org is a great resource for finding out where and when you can vote in Tennessee or anywhere else in the U.S.”
Swift has urged fans to vote in the past. Swift will remind fans via social media to register on National Voter Registration Day 2023. Vote.org revealed later that 35,252 people had registered to vote using their platform.
