After a disastrous dinner last weekend, the ex-husband of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) was arrested and charged with several counts.

Rep. Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert had dinner together at Miner’s Claim Restaurant, Silt last Saturday. Silt, a small Colorado city with 3,500 residents that fall in Boebert’s district, quickly escalated into violence. The police were called in to investigate.

There are conflicting reports about the couple’s separation last year after 18 years of marriage. The New York Post called American Muckrakers a “anti-Boebert super PAC” for breaking the story, and reported that Jayson was punched twice in the face by the congresswoman. American Muckrakers claimed that Lauren had called the police, while other reports state that Jayson called to claim he was a victim of domestic violence.

A representative from Rep. Boebert’s office gave a slightly different account, claiming Jayson acted inappropriately all evening, made sexual comments, and was “just a a**h ***. The aide claimed that Jayson had made a “violent” move towards Lauren at one time. Lauren “put hands on his nose and in his face to reject his advances. ”

Police arrived on the scene but made no arrests. The police told reporters they would continue their investigation. Jayson had called the police Sunday to inform them that he did not want to press any charges.

“I didn’t want any of this to happen,” he told The Denver Post. “We were having an uncomfortable discussion. ”

Rep. Boebert, (37), described the evening as “a sad situation which continues to escalate.”

Her statement went on to say, “I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and there were no arrests.” “I will discuss with my lawyer the false accusations he made and consider all of my legal options. ”

On the Tuesday following the incident at the restaurant, Jayson was arrested and charged with several misdemeanor offenses: third-degree assault, prohibited weapon usage, obstruction of peace officers (obstructing an officer), harassment, and disorderly conduct, as well as third-degree trespassing. The charges are not clear if they relate to the incident.

He paid a $2,500 bond for his release after being arrested.

Court records indicate that Rep. Boebert has not been arrested recently, though she and her ex have both been arrested in the past. Lauren was arrested for alleged disorderly conduct and missed court appearances. When he was in his mid-20s, Jayson, now 43, pled guilty to public indecency and lewd exposure after an incident at a bowling alley.

The Congresswoman did not immediately respond to an inquiry about Jayson Boebert’s recent arrest.
