Chicago-Area High School Students Arrested by Illinois Police Following Lockdown

Five high school students from Chicago were arrested Tuesday by police after they received a report that a student had a gun. The campus was placed under lockdown for several hours.

Police said that the five students were taken into custody at Highland Park High School Tuesday morning after one student reported seeing another peer with a gun.

Officials located the student who was alleged to have a gun and security footage showed him leaving the building with another student.

Two students were taken into custody after being searched the building, District 113 Superintendent Bruce Law stated in a memo to parents.

Officials stated that five students were taken into custody.

Other buildings in Highland Park were also put under lockdown during the incident.
