The Windy City is experiencing warmer weather, which means that winter will soon be a distant memory. Residents who were trapped inside due to the bitter cold and icy winds have opened their windows to allow the fresh spring air to circulate through their cramped apartments.
Although there are fewer children playing in the parks today than they were half a century ago, many of them are still enjoying it. Both the basketball courts and soccer fields are full.
Families can be seen walking along the lakeshore once more, while lovers walk the Magnificent Mile looking for their weddings.
Chicago’s gangsters are back from hibernation and are wreaking havoc on innocents.
ABC7: Police said that at least 42 people were shot in Chicago, eight of them fatally, during shootings over the weekend.
The shootings occurred from 6 p.m. on Friday to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday night. The victims ranged in age from 16-65.
Just before 11 p.m. on Sunday, the latest shooting took place in the 3000-block North Winthrop Avenue Edgewater. This is where three people were involved in a fight on the sidewalk. One shooter opened fire on the victims and hit them both.
River North was also among the shootings this weekend, which has been plagued by crime in recent times.
River North is not West Garfield Park. There, the rate of shootings exceeds that of the Loop by 20 times. It’s well-known for its nightlife, expensive retail stores, and vibrant artists’ hub.
Tell that to the bangers, who are now targeting residents.
After an earlier incident that took place in the 100-block West Hubbard Street at 10 p.m., a man in his 20s was left with serious injuries.
He was shot multiple times by the man. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Brian Hopkins, the 2nd Ward Alderman, stated that “the number of illegal weapons on streets has never been greater” and added that alcohol and fighting, and conflict are all ingredients for violent weekends.
The chaos in the Loop is the result of hundreds upon scores of children running around and jumping on innocent bystanders.
Alderman Hopkins stated that they are seeing more juveniles than they can handle. We had 400, according to some estimates. It was more than 400 officers at the height of the mayhem. It was just that we didn’t have enough officers available to stop the violence.
Ten people were taken into police custody, eight of which were juveniles.
Alderman Hopkins stated that we must crackdown on crime before summer and have more officers out on the streets.
He said that they’ve been discussing this topic for over two months. “We knew that warm weather was coming so it wasn’t surprising that we didn’t have the resources to prepare for it.
Lori Lightfoot, Chicago mayor, is allowing this to occur. She is afraid of backlash from the black community, who demand no backsliding on “police Reform” and the changes made by Kim Foxx, the state’s attorney regarding no bail for non-violent crimes and light sentences.
It would not matter if Lightfoot was in jail. It is too late to save the situation. As criminals roam free in the streets, the tiny security enclaves are disappearing. This is a dystopian nightmare that everyone predicted but no one on the Left heeded.
