The fact that a musician might have vocal problems is not unusual. But when the singer is the most popular in country music and cancels his show just minutes before he’s due to perform, it will certainly cause controversy.

Morgan Wallen, the superstar of country music, had reserved two nights in Vaught Hemingway stadium on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The concert on Saturday night was a huge success. Thousands of people attended the first-ever concert held in the football stadium.

The video board in the stadium displayed a message on Sunday after Wallen’s openers had performed: “Ladies, gentlemen, Morgan is unfortunately unable to perform this evening due to a loss of voice. The show for tonight has therefore been canceled. Please proceed safely to the exits of the stadium. “Point of purchase will offer refunds for the event tonight.”

Wallen has been forced to cancel three shows in Michigan, Illinois, and Nebraska this weekend due to vocal problems. In a post on his Instagram, the singer-songwriter apologized for any inconvenience caused to fans. He also announced some new dates.

“Y’all know how important my fans are to me, so I feel horrible about this news,” Wallen posted. “There’s nothing more I want to do than be on stage playing for you guys. But as of today, I’m on doctor-ordered vocal rest and we have to reschedule this week’s shows. I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know will not be 100%. I’m doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark.”

Wallen set a Billboard Hot 100 record in 2017 when all 36 songs from his album One Thing at a Time reached the top of the charts at the same time. He is still riding high, despite forces in cancel culture trying to silence him by 2021. Fans were not happy about Wallen canceling at the last minute. One fan even filed a suit against him on behalf of other patrons who had incurred expenses due to Wallen’s inability to perform. She dropped the lawsuit but is reportedly planning to file another one.

Wallen also fell and tripped onstage at his Louisville, Ky. show Thursday night. He jumped up and made a funny face. He blamed the fog on stage for the accident. Is Wallen having vocal problems or did other issues contribute to him canceling last minute?
