George Gascon is a disgraced Los Angeles County District Attorney who charges a known felon accused of attacking Olympian Kim Glass.

Following the release of criminal after the criminal, light sentencings, and his soft-on-crime policies, Gascon is doing the right thing for once — putting criminals behind bars.

Semeon Tsfamariam was convicted of felony assault in 2018 and 2019. He was released from state prison on parole. Gascon stated Tuesday, “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack by Mr. Tesfamariam, who has a history of attacking random people with dangerous weapons. ”

Tesfamariam allegedly threw a 10-inch steel bolt at Glass’s face as she walked along Downtown Los Angeles’ homeless camp.

This is how Glass described the horrible incident.

“As I was leaving lunch, I was outside saying goodbye to a friend and this homeless man ran up. He had something in his hand, he was on the side of the car in the street, and he just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes and as I go to tell my friend I think something is wrong with him before I knew it a big metal bolt like pipe hit me. It happened so fast, he literally flung it from the street.”

Witnesses of the attack helped to keep him in custody until police arrived. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 17. He could be sentenced to up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

Gascon seems to have changed his course of action, but we should not be fooled. He is the same pro-crime DA, and he is only putting criminals behind bars because he could very well face a recall election, and if the recall makes it to the ballot, he will lose. Former San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin was recalled last month, and Gascon will likely be next.

The lack of leadership and incompetence of Eric Garcetti and Governor Gavin Newsom has exacerbated the homeless crisis Downtown.

Although the rescue missions are a great help, career politicians can make it worse by making it more difficult to become homeless and blocking streets with encampments. People wander the streets looking for drugs and alcohol. Instead of making it worse, career politicians should set up rehabilitation centers, hire mental health professionals, help them get off the streets, restore public spaces to their residents, then

Los Angeles County residents can vote in many big races during November’s midterms. Gascon recall, that Alex Villanueva, and the LA County Sheriff will all be on the ballot. A new measure was also passed by the Board of Supervisors. Voters will be able to elect the Mayor if they approve. Important to note that Rick Caruso is the mayoral candidate and is in favor of recalling Gascon. Karen Bass opposes it.

Los Angeles residents should vote to remove career politicians from office and restore their sanity.
