Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin interviewed several Democrats and Biden officials for a Fox News segment, which aired Monday afternoon.
Many of the Democrats Melugin asked either ignored him or refused to answer his questions.
This segment is coming as the Biden administration’s policies regarding the southern border have resulted in national security and humanitarian disaster with more than 2 million illegal border crossings during the past 11 months. This record and more than 4,000,000 total since Biden’sinauguration, are just a few examples.
Since President Biden took office, 250,000 unaccompanied migrants have arrived at the border. Some were trafficked and some drowned in the river. “Any issue with that?” Melugin asked Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA).
Melugin was completely ignored by Pressley.
“Last question, ma’am. Melugin asked. “Do you agree that the border security is assured?”
Pressley declined to answer.
Melugin asked Rep. Bennie Thompson (D–MS), chair of the Committee on Homeland Security, “Chairman,” “Chairman, one question. In your opinion, the border is secure?”
Thompson replied, “I must go give a speech.” Thompson replied, “I have to go give a speech.”
Melugin replied, “I heard you.” “It’s a quick query, is the border secure?”
Thompson declined to answer the question.
Melugin asked Alejandro Mayorkas (D), Secretary of Homeland Security, about his thoughts.
“I’m Bill Melugin with Fox News. Do you have a few moments to talk about the border real quick?” Melugin asked.
“I’m sorry, I don’t,” Mayorkas snapped back.
Melugin presented a Fox News email Melugin sent to Homeland Security last Wednesday, asking for an interview. Melugin and his crew were in town. Melugin did not receive a response from the Biden administration.
Melugin stated, “We only need a few minutes of your time and we’ll be satisfied.” “We reached out last week to your office and asked for your assistance. They were amazing.”
“I appreciate it,” Mayorkas chided.
Melugin wondered if 900,000 was a secure border.
Mayorkas stated, “Have an enjoyable day.” “Thank you.”
Melugin stated that the only Democrats who would discuss the border were Democrats from Texas, which has been the most affected by the crisis.
Rep. Veronica Escobar stated that “this is unsustainable.” It has been unsustainable for many years.
“This is our government. I’m a Democrat. They need to realize that they own it now,” Rep. Henry Cuellar said to Melugin. They own it now. They must take steps to rectify this situation.
NEW: We’ve been in D.C. for the last week, questioning politicians on Capitol Hill face to face about the border crisis. Several refused to talk to us, including DHS Secretary @AliMayorkas, who we tracked down in person after @DHSgov never responded to our interview request. pic.twitter.com/RfwePkDlkJ
