In a recent interview with CTV News Prime Minister Justin Trudeau doubled his comments regarding the trucker protest in 2022. He called some of those activists “tinfoil-hat” conspiracy theorists engaged in “disinformation and misinformation”

Canadian leader retracted some of his remarks and called the people he was referring to “small minority” within the “movements”, which are spreading “harmful lie.”

Trudeau stated, “Those people, and it was a small minority among the larger anti-movements who were really vocal. I don’t care and I won’t be sorry for calling out people who were hurting their fellow Canadians.”

“So, the ‘tinfoil-hats’ comment is not something you regret.” Omar Sachedina, CTV.

Trudeau said, “When someone believes your government is trying inject a vaccine into you to control and track your mind, and that there’s also a microchip inside it, that’s almost exactly the definition of conspiracy theory. That you wear a Tinfoil Hat to protect your brain against brain waves.”

This statement however differs from the remarks made by the prime minister during the onset protests when he called the entire demonstration a “fringe minority.”

Trudeau stated that in January 2022, the opinions expressed by “a few people in Ottawa” were “continuation of what has unfortunately been seen in disinformation, misinformation online – conspiracy torists about microchips and about God knows what other things that go with the Tinfoil hats.”

He also noted that Canadians were “watching with disgust and disbelief at the [protest] behavior,” and “wondering how it could have occurred in our capital.”

Trudeau also referred to “Nazi symbolism and racist imagery” and the desecration war memorials at the protests. The details of these events were unclear despite multiple investigations into the Nazi flag and Confederate flags that were visible in the first days of the city’s standstill. Protesters were alleged to have urinated on a war monument; however, no charges were ever brought.

Trudeau stated that unvaccinated people were “often mysoginists and racists” in late 2021. He also called them “extremists who don’t believe science”

Justin Trudeau boasted also in the interview at the end of 2022 that “people went outside and got vaccinated more than just about anyone else,” pointing to an overall vaccination rate for the country of 80.5%.
