Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney Unite in Historic Collaboration at Birthplace of Republican Party

To win over disgruntled Republicans to her side in her fight with former President Trump to become the next president, Vice President Harris teamed up on Thursday with the most visible anti-Trump Republican in the town which claims to be where the GOP was born.

Harris campaigned with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney in Wisconsin, a battleground state, where she was joined by a conservative rising star who has promised to do all that she can, after the riots on Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Cheney announced to the crowd that she had never voted Democrat before, but “this year I proudly cast my vote for Vice-President Kamala Harris,” as she formally endorsed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harri. “As a conservative and patriot, a mother who loves our Constitution, and someone who is devoted to the Constitution, I’m honored to join in her urgent cause.”

Harris described Cheney as “a true patriot” who puts the country before party and self.

The event was held in Ripon, Wisconsin where a one-room schoolhouse has been designated as a national historical landmark for its role in hosting a series of meetings that led to Republican Party formation in 1854.

Cheney was once a rising star in the House Republican leadership. She is the daughter of former Republican vice president Dick Cheney.

She was the most prominent of the 10 House Republicans that voted in early 2021 to impeach then-President Trump on a charge of inciting a deadly riot in the Capitol in January 2020. The riot was started by right-wing radicals and Trump supporters to prevent congressional certification of Biden’s Electoral College win in the election of 2020.

Trump and his allies immediately began verbally attacking the conservative legislator and defense hawk. She was ultimately ousted from the No. 3 House GOP leadership position. The third position in the House GOP leadership is held by Rep.

Cheney was one of two Republicans to serve on the special committee set up by House Democrats in order to investigate the Capitol riot.

She lost the GOP primary for Wyoming’s congressional seat in 2022 to Harriet Hageman. Hageman was backed by Trump.

Cheney announced at a speech she gave in North Carolina’s swing state, Duke University, in early September that she would be voting for Harris in the upcoming presidential election. Harris was also endorsed by Cheney’s dad.

Cheney warned on Thursday that “our nation faces a unique threat: a former President who tried to remain in power by unraveling our republic’s foundations.”

She said that Trump could “never be trusted again with power” and that “in this campaign, putting patriotism before partisanship is not just an aspiration; it’s our duty.”

Donald Trump has no compassion. He is vindictive. He is vindictive. He is vindictive. Cheney added that Donald Trump was not a good leader for this great and good nation.

Harris said after Cheney that anyone who “recklessly tramples our democratic values like Donald Trump, anyone who actively and violently has obstructed and violently blocked the will of people and peaceful transfer of power, as Donald Trump, has done… must not again stand behind the seal of the president of United States.”

Harris added that she “takes seriously” her pledge to serve as president of the United States for all Americans.

Cheney wasn’t always a Harris fan.

Trump’s campaign repeatedly referred to a post-Cheney made on social media during the 2000 presidential election, in which she stated that “@KamalaHarris had a more liberal record of voting than Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren.” Her radical leftist beliefs–raising taxes and banning gun sales; using taxpayer money for abortions & illegal immigrants’ health care; and eliminating private health insurance -would be disastrous for America.

Trump said that Cheney, while speaking to Bill Melugin of Fox News during a rally held in Michigan, was “terrible”, and “a stupid, war-hawk”. All she wants is to shoot missiles at the people.”

Trump stated that he believes Cheney and Harris are hurting each other. Both of them are so bad.

The Cheneys join a growing number of Republicans who support Harris.

Adam Kinzinger, former Illinois Rep. and former Georgia Lt. Governor, are also prominent anti-Trump Republicans. Geoff Duncan spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, six weeks ago.

Harris has the support of more than 200 former Bush Administration officials and those who worked for Mitt Romney and the late John McCain, 2008 and 2012 GOP Presidential nominees. She is also supported by over 100 former Republican national security officials, as well as other prominent Republicans.

Ripon isn’t the only place that can claim to be the birthplace of the GOP. Exeter, New Hampshire also boasts bragging rights as the location of 1853 meetings by disenchanted politicians who discussed the formation of a new Republican party.

Officials in Ripon, however, said that the group from Exeter had never formed a political party or chosen officials as it did in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is among seven battleground states that have razor-thin margins. These are the same states where Biden won in 2020 and will likely determine whether Trump or Harris wins the presidential election of 2024.

Harris and Trump have less than five weeks left until the November election. They are locked in an error margin race in key swing states.

Even though Trump has a huge influence over the GOP’s leadership, even a small number of Republicans who support Harris can have a significant impact on what is likely to be a close race in battleground states.
