Suzanne Somers and Patrick Duffy brought the quintessential blended American family to life as the stars of the ’90s TV sitcom “Step by Step.”
Duffy and Somers played Frank Lambert and Carol Foster who were single parents, fell in love and married, and then joined their families. The newlyweds not only had to start over as adults but they also each had three kids and created a whole new concept of family.
In a press release, her representative confirmed that Somers had “passed peacefully away at home early in the morning of October 15th.” “She has survived an aggressive breast cancer for more than 23 years.”
Duffy posted a photo of the actress and said that the news of her death “left him stunned” yesterday.
“Like everyone else who knew her, yesterday I was shocked by the news of my dear friend Suzanne’s death. “For that brief moment, it was unimaginable,” he wrote on Instagram.

“But she has indeed passed.” She passed through my life in a beautiful way on her journey. “My task is to stay by the roadside while she continues her journey.”

Duffy and Somers appeared in the ABC sitcom from 1996 to 1998.
Somers had been diagnosed with cancer two times before. She was diagnosed with skin cancer when she was in her 30s, and then breast cancer at age 50.
The “Three’s Company’s” star revealed in July that her breast cancer has returned.
“I’ve been fighting cancer for years, and I use the best alternative and conventional medicines to keep it away.” “I continue to bat that little f—er back every time it pops up,” she said.
Her representative confirmed this on Sunday: “Suzanne is surrounded by Alan, Bruce and her immediate family. On October 16th, her family gathered together to celebrate her birthday. They will instead celebrate her life and thank the millions of her fans and followers.
A private family burial is scheduled for this week. The memorial will follow the following month.
Somers married Alan Hamel in 1977, her second husband. She often spoke about their relationship.
In addition to son Bruce, they have three granddaughters: Camelia, Violet, and Daisy.
