Lin Yu-ting, an Olympic Taiwanese athlete at the center of a gender dispute that has garnered international attention, defeated Turkish female fighter Esra Yaldiz Kasraman on Wednesday night by unanimous decision, securing Yu’ting’s progression to the gold-medal round.
Kahraman, after the fight, made the XX symbol with her finger to show that she was a woman.
Yu-ting, a Chinese woman, and Imane Khelif, an Algerian fighter from last year who failed a gender test have been embroiled in controversy since they both failed the tests.
According to Russia’s Tass News Agency, Umar Kremlev, IBA’s President, explained in 2023 his organization’s disqualification of Taiwan’s Lin Yuting and Algeria’s Imane Khelif, from competing at the IBA’s Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023. According to DNA tests, we have identified several athletes who attempted to fool their teammates into thinking they were women. The results of the DNA tests proved that the athletes had XY chromosomes. Kremlev stated that such athletes were banned from competing.
🚨BREAKING🚨
Taiwan’s Lin-Yu Ting has just defeated Türkiye’s Esra Yildiz Kahraman 5-0. This comes just days after @IBA_Boxing confirmed that Lin was previously disqualified for having XY chromosomes.
As she left the ring, Kahraman repeatedly made an “X” gesture at the crowd. https://t.co/1TfSfXHn6S pic.twitter.com/0RW3EM5pQt

Kahraman pursued Yuting aggressively throughout the fight but was unable to match the strength and range of the Taiwanese fighter.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), despite failing the gender test in 2023, has maintained that Yu-ting and Kheli should fight in the women’s division.
Meet Lin Yu-Ting. Lin was kicked out of the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championship because he has XY chromosomes but the woke Olympics let him compete as a woman. Watch the video from his fight today + look at these photos and tell me that you think this is fair. This is absurd. pic.twitter.com/l8oC5PcvWC

Mark Adams, IOC spokesperson, said that “everyone competing in women’s competition is compliant with the eligibility rules.” They are women on their passports and that is what they have stated.
Yu-ting is battling for gold in the women’s division 57kg on Saturday.
