Authorities claim that a 17-year-old boy was shot in the face while searching for a place to take his homecoming pictures by a property manager who is also a member of Mountain View’s town council.

Brent Metz, 38, was arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two counts of felony menacing and illegal discharge of firearms, as well as two counts of reckless endangerment.

Deputies from the sheriff’s department responded to the 23000 Block of Pleasant Park Road after a homeowner reported that two trespassers had been on her property. The homeowner reported the trespassers to her boyfriend.

Deputies found two cars parked on the side of Pleasant Park Road. When one deputy approached the vehicles, he saw a teenager bleeding profusely from his face.

Another boy was also present, applying pressure with his shirt to the wounds of his friend.

Metz was standing nearby, the man accused by the victim of shooting him through the windshield of the car.

The victim and his friend told the deputy they went to the property to ask about the possibility of using it for homecoming photos.

The boys then jumped over the fence to walk up to the house to talk to the owner. The victim and his friend went to the house to look for the owner, but when no one was there, they told the deputy that the homeowner wasn’t home.

The boys were still not around so they returned to their cars, where the victims claimed to be writing a letter to the homeowner asking for permission to use the property to take photos.

The boy claimed that as the boys were writing their note, a man they had never seen before pulled up beside them, got out of his pickup truck, and fired through the windshield hitting the driver in the face.

The sheriff’s office reported that the gun used in the shooting allegedly was found inside Metz’s truck.

Metz was taken to the headquarters, where he was processed before being booked into jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
