Texas man arrested after leaving his 1-year-old daughter in the car seat of his vehicle and being intoxicated.
On Tuesday, the horrendous incident occurred in Tyler, an east-of-Dallas city. A cyclist saw the child at the Rhones Quarter Road side by side around 8 p.m. He called the police and went to a nearby house.
KYTX-TV reported five minutes later that another call was made by the police to report a drunken man in a parking lot at a gas station.
EMS discovered that the child had suffered a minor injury to her hand and was then taken by family members.
Tyler police stated that they found Paul Hanna (a 37-year-old father of the child) at the Cefco gas station on Tuesday. He told them that the child was with a full-time nursing assistant who was also caring for his 4-year-old son.
Police were told by the night nurse that the man had two children, but she hadn’t seen either the baby girl or her father for three hours that night. According to an affidavit, she also identified Hanna’s child from photos that were shown to her by police.
Police stated that Hanna was ” not credible” and intoxicated during the interview and that he had told conflicting stories. Police also found that Hanna was the last person to have seen his daughter.
According to Smith County Jail records, he was taken into custody on Tuesday and held on $752,500 bonds. He faces charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment.
The grandparents took custody of the girl.
