Texas Governor Greg Abbott is winning. He knows he’s winning and he’s going to continue to win because advocating for open borders, like New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and then bitterly complaining when a taste of the crisis at the border is brought to his city, is indefensible.
Adams doesn’t have an intelligent answer.
Abbott said that Mayor Adams had stated they welcome illegal immigrants. ” “And now once they have to deal with the reality of it, they’re suddenly flummoxed and they cannot handle it.”
Abbott stated, “They’re now experiencing a taste of the daily challenges Texas faces”.
Adams threatened to send a bus full of New Yorkers to Texas to campaign against Abbott, who is running for re-election. A bemused Abbott exclaimed, “Make My Day.”
Abbott said that it was better for Democratic challenger Beto than to be “aided by and supported” by “a bunch of New Yorkers. ”
He said, “That won’t get viewed very positively in Texas.”
Abbott also accused Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul, both Democrats, of “rank hypocrisy” for attacking his motives in responding to what he calls President Biden’s “open border policies.”
Abbott said, “Listen, New York City’s a sanctuary city.”
Abbott was polite enough to not mention Texas as a concealing/carry state, and New York Democrats would stick out in Texas like sore thumbs.
Adams spoke out about Abbott with predictable results.
Adams replied to The Post’s query, “He is an anti-American governor that really goes against everything we stand behind”.
“And I will do all that I can to make sure that Texans, the peoples in Texas, realize how dangerous he has been to our global community. ”
Adams described Abbott as a “global embarrassment” at the time.
“Because this is not what we do as Americans,” the mayor said.
“All of us — and I’m sure if he goes into his lineage, he came from somewhere. And if his ancestors were treated the way he’s treating these asylum seekers and migrants, then he would not be where he is right now.”
Abbott’s ancestors are from very old colonial stock, and the newcomers are going to enjoy life and liberty and have a far easier time than Abbott’s ancestors, who scratched a living out of the ground in 1740s North Carolina. Abbott’s ancestors didn’t have a beneficient government — supported by the American taxpayer — to see to their every need.
But it’s an idiotic argument for Adams to make — the “Look! Squirrel!!” kind of argument that a loser makes.
Adams claims that the city is unable to accept people in one location and provide the support they require. Abbott has made it clear that the Port Authority Bus Terminal is where illegal aliens will be dropped. Adams claims that the city is “unable” to receive them there.
Adams wants chaos because Uncle Joe wants to stop Abbott from picking on New York City. He believes that if Adams makes life difficult enough for illegals, the Feds will need to step in.
Adams should keep his mouth shut. He puts his foot in it every time he opens it.
