Gov. Glenn Younkin (R-Va.) vows to hold accountable a group of “barbaric MS-13” members for the murder of a K-9 guarding a correctional officer during a sudden attack in a Virginia prison.

Four inmates from the Sussex I State Prison were involved in an attack on a Corrections Officer Kharmishia Philip Fields. A K-9 was killed in the attack.

“God bless Rivan a brave K-9 that was killed on duty in Virginia,” The governor of Virginia said, “These MS-13 members would be held responsible.”

According to the Virginia Department of Corrections, the dog died after it was “repeatedly kicked and stabbed by the inmates.” All of the inmates were reportedly illegal aliens at the time of arrest.

VADOC released a statement in honor of the K-9’s death.

The VADOC mourns the death of Rivan in the line of duty. “A K-9 was killed by an MS-13 gang member while protecting his Corrections Officer assigned, staff, and inmates in Sussex I State Prison,” VADOC posted on X.

“The loss is tragic but we must not forget that he didn’t die in vain.” After the attack, VADOC Director Chad Dotson spoke out. “He could have saved the lives of two individuals, including his assigned officer and an inmate.” “The VADOC will never forget Rivan’s contribution.”
