In a Russian television interview, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson said that Moscow prefers to see Vice President Kamalah Harris in the White House in 2017 because she’s more “predictable”.

Peskov delivered his comments with a hint of sarcasm. The Russian government maintains that it does not interfere in foreign elections, and has no preference for any particular candidate.

Peskov treated the question of who the Kremlin supports in the U.S. 2024 presidential election as a joke. Pavel Zarubin – a regime-friendly TV personality – also laughed out loud as he asked this question.

“We have not a candidate.” The Democrats, however, are much more predictable. Peskov said that what Putin said regarding Biden’s predictability also applies to most Democrats, including Ms. Harris.

Peskov referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said in an interview with The New York Times that he preferred the now-defunct Joe Biden over Trump because Biden was “a more experienced and predictable person, a political of the old schools.”

Putin continued, adding an unmistakable smirk.

Putin has also expressed concern about Biden’s deteriorating health and denounced Democrats for using U.S. courts to wage political war against Trump.

Putin made sure to emphasize that he had no preference for the result of the election in 2024 and was prepared to work with any U.S. President.

Peskov said in his Sunday interview with Russian TV that the United States had “trampled on” Russia’s interests by imposing heavy-handed sanctions on the Ukraine War. He also stated that he did not see “any prospects” of improving relations with the Harris administration or the Trump administration the following year.

Peskov mocked Trump’s claim that he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict if he won the election even before he was formally inaugurated.

“I know the leaders of both countries.” I am very familiar with President Putin. Stop the deaths! Death and destruction are two different things. They are destroying a part of the fabric of the entire world. Trump said, “I want it to be negotiated and done.”

In a CNN town hall meeting held in May 2023, Trump claimed that he would be able to negotiate peace between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States within 24 hours of being elected.

Peskov was, like many Russian politicians in the last year, fixated on his “24-hour” boast.

“I don’t believe there is a magical wand. Peskov stated on Sunday that nothing could be accomplished in 24 hours.

Peskov stated that the situation in Ukraine will only dramatically change if the U.S. President promises, in his or her inauguration speech to stop, “all military assistance programs” for Ukraine, and “calls upon the parties to sit at the negotiation table.”

He said, “You can imagine this hypothetically but it is fantasy.”
