The news of the death of six hostages, among them Hersh Goldberg-Polin (an American), late Saturday night, just before the troops discovered them, was a very sad one.

Joe Biden issued a statement in which he claimed that he “worked relentlessly” to return the hostages — even though he was on vacation. It’s been almost a full year since the October 7, 2023 hostage crisis and American deaths. Jimmy Carter’s failure to handle the hostage situation in 1980 was at least partly responsible for his loss in 1980. He tried to save them even if he didn’t succeed.

Biden did not even return to the news after the murders. He didn’t get back to D.C. till Monday when he met with Kamala Harris at the Situation Room to discuss a ceasefire agreement. He’s pushing for a ceasefire deal that they will accept after killing six hostages – one of whom was an American – and still holding other people.

During his Sunday appearance on “Meet the Press,” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-AR, decimated Biden over the issue. He expressed his sympathy to the families of hostages and in particular the family of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, the American who was killed. He pointed out that both Biden and Harris tried to prevent Israel from entering Rafah to take out the terrorists. They even talked about holding back weapons. Rafah is where the bodies of the hostages were discovered. Cotton pointed out that Harris warned against military actions in Rafah because she “studied maps.”

Harris said that it would be “a mistake for Israel to enter Rafah and conduct any type of military operation.”

Cotton stated that Biden and Harris should not have pressed Israel to limit its response from the start, but rather let Israel win right away. Cotton also said that Biden, Harris, and other Iranian proxy groups put more pressure than Hamas or Iran. Every step of the way, they’ve been trying to hamstring Israel. Hamas knows that they can continue to hold out due to the actions and remarks of Biden-Harris. It’s not possible to keep giving them hope and leverage. That’s exactly what Biden and Harris have done.

Their first reaction to the murders was not “we must wipe out Hamas”, but that we need to “focus our attention on a deal.” Hamas is aware that they can demand anything and get it at this stage, at least from Biden or Harris.
