Four people who may have connections with the transnational gang Tren de Aragua were arrested in Aurora, Colorado near an apartment building that was under attack.
In the past week, at least two apartment blocks in Aurora received intense media coverage after a video of heavily armed men breaking down an apartment’s door went viral.
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the four people were arrested in Aurora at Ivy Crossing Apartments on “a variety” of charges including drugs and stolen cars. Six people were arrested.
Four people were identified who may have connections to the Tren de Aragua. On August 21, law enforcement officers from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, patrolled the Ivy Crossing apartment buildings.
The Tren de Aragua has approximately 5,000 members in the United States and Venezuela.
Tyler Brown, Arapahoe County sheriff stated: “We are looking for any violations that we can stop. We will contact someone and address the concerns that they may have.”
On August 21, during their proactive patrol, officers from different agencies confiscated a stolen car, ketamine, and 750 fake pills.
Brown explained that “there had been some discussion about some things happening in our jurisdiction, and we developed a strategy.”
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed exactly how these four are connected to Tren de Aragua.
We haven’t been able to confirm the exact location of all four people, but they are in custody.
The Aurora Police Department in Colorado announced in August that a task force was appointed to combat Tren de Aragua.
