A class action lawsuit has been filed against some leftist members of “Squad”, a group in Congress, for the anti-Israel protests and encampment that occurred at Columbia University just a few months ago.

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) have been accused of “inciting and encouraging” the events, the New York Post reported on Saturday.

The outlet continues:

According to court documents, the trio of radical Democrats was among “outside champions,” who also criticized law enforcement for breaking down the hateful protests, which included masked demonstrators taking over a quad on campus, chanting, “Free Palestine!” and burning an Israeli flag, and throwing stones. This led to the violent takeover of Hamilton Hall by the students, on April 30, according to the court papers.

The filing was made anonymously by five students and also targets other activist groups. The students called the camp illegal and said it violated university rules.

The document stated that “its occupants harassed and intimidated Jewish students, including by following, blocking, or physically blocking them.” The Post reports that two of the students are Jewish.

After the protests, Jewish students from Columbia University wrote a letter to defend Israel.

The letter did not only celebrate Israel’s defense against the Jewish people, but it also celebrated its status as a democracy that is also home to Muslims and Christians. The article concluded with a plea for peace and understanding.

The outlet reported that anti-Israel demonstrators again set up a camp at the university on May 31, after the New York City Police Department conducted a raid.

The first encampment inspired others to create encampments in other colleges and Universities across the country.

The protesters who took part in various encampments on university campuses made a variety of demands. They included a call for universities to divest themselves of Israeli companies and educational institutions and ending academic ties.
