According to a recent report, the date has been set for Elon Musk’s social networking site, X (formerly Twitter), to officially close its San Francisco headquarters.
Fortune reported that a source said that X had informed its employees via email that their office at Market Street would close on Friday, September 13. The outlet also noted that this date is a Friday.
Musk announced that he was moving the global headquarters of X and SpaceX from California to another state after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law that prohibits schools from informing parents about their child’s gender.
Musk announced at the time, that X headquarters would be moving to Austin, Texas. He also announced that SpaceX headquarters would be moving from Hawthorne in California to Starbase in Texas. Musk cited the “final straw” as the gender identity legislation and attributed his decision to “this and many other laws that preceded it which attacked both families and businesses.”
Musk has criticized California’s policies as he moves his businesses to Texas, a business-friendly state.
Tesla’s CEO announced that the company’s global headquarters would be moving from California to Austin, Texas in late 2021. This move was made after tensions with California over COVID-19’s strict restrictions.
