Rep. Byron Donalds’ wife Erika Donalds responded to the vitriolic criticisms on Wednesday.

What’s the background?

Donalds was made famous last week by the 20 Republicans who had been blocking Rep. Kevin McCarthy from running for speakership. They came together around Donalds. Donalds was able to get 20 votes in several ballots. Donalds could have been the first black House speaker if he had received enough votes to win the speakership.

Donalds has been criticized by Democrats especially. Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) He was called a “prop” who supports white supremacy. Joy Reid from MSNBC, however, was contentious in her interview and questioned Donalds’ leadership abilities.

What did Mrs. Donalds actually say?

Donalds stated that despite her husband being black, the “most racist attacks against him” come from the left, from Democrats, and liberals.

She tweeted, “Byron and me have been together for 23+years, and the worst racist attacks we suffer are always from left.” They can’t believe that a black man can be free to think and achieve success by his own merits. And they can’t even accept that he is married to me.

She mocked, “Cry harder, hateers.”

Donalds also included many racist remarks that were directed at her, along with her determined message.

Many messages highlight the fact that Rep. Donalds was a black man who married a white woman.

One person tweeted, “Surprise surprise his wife is… nevermind.” Another person tweeted, “No surprise that he has snowflake as a wife.”

“Byron Donalds married a white fascist woman!” She is the new Ginni Tom! She might be able to betray her country, too! Another person tweeted about her.

Donalds also addressed Reid directly, pointing out that Reid had repeatedly interrupted Rep. Donalds.
