You may remember the story about Washington, D.C.’s former post office, which was transformed into the Trump International Hotel. I had never heard of it before. This was largely due to some hyped-up controversy before and during Donald Trump’s presidential term.

What’s the story behind Trump’s renovation and purchase? What is the story behind Trump’s renovation and purchase?

Trump “sold” the property in 2022 for $375,000,000, at a record-breaking price per room. He made a profit of $100,000,000. The name Trump was ridiculed when it became Waldorf Astoria. After the recent default by the new owners, CGI, the property will be auctioned off next month.

Let me repeat that one mind-blowing detail: Trump “Sold the property in 2022 for $375 million, at a record price-per-room, netting a ~$100 million profit.”

“The temperature of politics remains too high for this to be feasible, given recent events and the current political climate. ”

Mark Lyon posted on Facebook that Trump went above and beyond his duty to preserve this building.

You should be familiar with this story.

Donald Trump was famous in New York for being a young and brash developer, who made money and appeared on Page Six. Trump gained national fame only after he saved an ice skating rink.

It’s a small thing. Central Park Wollman Rink perfectly captures what was wrong with New York City before Guiliani, and what Trump is doing right.

“Wollman Rink opened in 1949 when the city was under a better administration. By 1980, it had become ruined due to neglect by the government. The rink was closed by Mayor Ed Koch. The New York Post published a retrospective in 2017. The city had promised that it would reopen by 1985. ”

Trump promised that Wollman’s business would be back in operation before Christmas. He said if Koch did not like the offer he would have the people that built the business for the last six years rebuild it for another six years.

On November 1st, skaters enjoyed Wollman once again.

Trump’s other talent, self-promotion, was used to ensure that newspapers carried photos of him in a Wollman Zamboni.

Rachel didn’t have to hype up her tweet — the picture was enough.
